GOLF COURSE

With well over 14,000 golf courses in the United States, and with expansion continuing at a steady rate, there is a demand for technically trained personnel to provide management for them. Training in the Turfgrass Management with a golf course emphasis is directed toward preparing the student for a career as a golf course superintendent.

This 18-month technical training program consists of two 15-week semesters and two 9-week semesters, for a total of 54 credits. A certificate is granted at the completion of the program requirements.

GOLF COURSE: CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The increasing recognition that University-level trained graduates in this field are available, together with the excellent performances by many of the graduates, has resulted in a high demand, and more job opportunities available each year than there are graduates. Starting salaries range from $20,000 to $28,000 and the entry point ranges from senior crew member to assistant superintendent or even superintendent depending upon experience.
