INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY $35 APPLICATION FEE FRESHMAN & TRANSFER STUDENTS Admission to the Institute of Agricultural Technology at Michigan State University is open to all candidates on the basis of academic preparation and ability, and the availability of space in the desired academic program. The University complies with all federal requirements prohibiting discrimination on the basis of age, race, religion, sex, or other unprotected classes. The completed application must be received prior to any established deadline. If you are admitted, you will receive instructions on how to apply for housing and orientation. Application is valid for one year only. Students applying to the Institute of Agricultural Technology, but not enrolling, will be allowed on full year to request reactivation IN WRITING without submitting a new application and a second application fee. You must list the most recent high school and ALL colleges and universities attended regardless of any intention to transfer credits to the Institute. Failure to comply may result in suspension from the University. Policy To be admitted to the Institute of Agricultural Technology at Michigan State University as a freshman, you must be a graduate of an accredited high school or preparatory school or have a G.E.D. You must have a high school record and recommendations that indicate that you have a strong chance for success in the academic program in the Institute. In fairness to students, we seek to admit only those applicants who have clear-cut probability of success in the Institute. Admission is based on all available evidence -previous academic performance, academic program, principal/counselor recommendations, ability test scores, citizenship record, leadership activities, and previous work experience. Policy If you have earned a strong grade record and are in good standing in college elsewhere, you may be eligible for admission as a transfer student in the Institute of Agricultural Technology. Apply as early as possible during your final year at your present college. (If you are not now in college, submit your application as soon as possible.) Management X   X REQUIREMENTS FOR FINANCIAL AID APPLICANTS To be considered for financial aid, students must complete a nationally used financial statement, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and must request that the results be sent to MSU. This form is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or in paper format at high school or college counseling offices. New students who have been admitted to the University are considered for financial aid as soon as the analysis of the FAFSA is received by the MSU Office of Financial Aid. Students are notified via email to their MSU email account when their awards are ready. Awards can be viewed online on STUINFO, MSU’s student information portal, at www.stuinfo.msu.edu. ACADEMIC ORIENTATION PROGRAM All new students are required to attend the Institute of Agricultural Technology Academic Orientation Program (IAT/AOP). Students entering Fall semester attend a one-day program in late July. Students who enter Winter or Summer terms attend a program immediately preceding the first day of classes. During the IAT/AOP, students visit with staff and faculty members, receive additional information concerning their transfer credit evaluation (transfer students only), receive assistance in preparing a class schedule, see an academic adviser, and enroll for classes. ADVISING Each program has a coordinator who advises students on academic scheduling, aids students in finding placement training stations, and assists graduates in locating permanent positions.SCHOLARSHIPS A limited number of industry-provided scholarships are available. After acceptance to the Institute, check with program coordinators for details. GRADUATION A certificate will be awarded to students who have completed credit requirements with a 2.0 or greater grade point average.
