Freshman Meanderings

 

This is a little glimpse of what it's like to be an incoming freshman Ag. Tech tech student. This is from the freshman Ag. Tech class of Fall 2003. They have been at MSU for a semester and have some great advice for incoming freshman.

How was your first semester at MSU?
~ "My first semester was scary and fun. I made a lot of new friends and joined organizations. I also realized how hard you have to work to do well at MSU." - Elyse Fink, age 18
~ "My first semester was pretty hard. I always had many things to do at once." - Adam Armbruster, age 18
~ "My first semester started off a little scary, I was scared the work would be too hard or I would be lazy and not do my work. Overall, I pulled together and classes have ended up being pretty cool." -Latosha Combs, age 18
~ "I have enjoyed MSU a lot. I love meeting all the new people and learning new methods." -Matt Marquart, age 21

What advice do you have for future incoming freshman?

What is your favorite part of the Ag. Tech program?
~ "I think the best thing in the Ag. Tech program is the small size of classes." -Stacie Ann Nelson, age 20

~ "I think the best part of the program is that I am finished in only two years and I get to study something that I am interested in." -Mike Haskin, age 19

What is the worst part of the Ag. Tech program?
~ "You don't get a degree, just a two-year certificate." -Mitch Fabus, age 19
~ "Not all of the Tech program credits transfer to a four-year degree." -Maria Johnson, age 18
~ "The worst thing is having to go to class on Fridays." -Nick Spitzley, age 19
~ "Trying to cram in all of the credits you want to take in two years is hard." -Shane Merryfield, age 18

What would you like to do with your Ag. Tech degree?
~ "I would like to use my degree to work at Farm Credit or Farm Services." -Elizabeth Benthem, age 19
~ "I want to use my degree and transfer into a 4-year program, in the Ag. Communications field." - Angie Eberts, age 18
~ "I would like to use my degree to get a job on a farm, possibly my family farm." - Dirk Vande Bunk, age 18
