MMPA/4-H Milk Marketing Tour 2009

Novi, Michigan
The two-day event is designed to offer students information about Michigan's dairy industry, milk marketing and cooperatives. We invite 4-H members, FFA members and other young people interested in the dairy industry and/or milk marketing that are 15-19 years old to participate in this fun and educational event. Registration is limited to 30 and is due by May 29.

The annual contest begins at 8:00 a.m. with registration and instructions. This contest offers participants an opportunity to enhance their livestock evaluation and selection skills, as well as improve their communication and decision making skills. Registration deadline is July 3, 2009.

Michigan Dairy Expo and 4-H Dairy Days

MSU Pavilion, East Lansing
The 13th Annual Michigan Dairy Expo and 4-H Dairy Days will be held July 20-24, 2009. The mission of this event is to encourage and promote youth involvement in dairy activities. In addition to the youth and open breed shows, youth participants will have an opportunity to get involved in dairy judging, quiz bowl and management contests. Registration deadline is June 20, 2009.

Michigan Livestock Expo

Ingham County Fairgrounds
The Michigan Livestock Expo is a multi-species livestock event including beef, sheep, swine, and goats, designed to enhance the livestock industry, educate youth and showcase Michigan's agriculture industry. The dairy industry will also be holding the Michigan Dairy Expo simultaneously at the MSU Pavilion. Champions in each species will be sold at a special evening industry celebration. State 4-H Horse Show

The annual State 4-H Horse Show will be at the MSU Pavilion on August 7-9, 2009. The entry deadline for eligible participants is July 14, 2009. All entries must be submitted to the Equine Youth Specialist from the County office, entries will not be accepted from individuals.

Cattlemen's Boot Camp
September 22-23, 2009
MSU Pavilion, East Lansing
The American Angus Association and the Department of Animal Science are hosting a Cattlemen's Boot Camp on the campus of MSU. This 1 1/2 day program is intended for adults and will include lecture and hands-on training opportunities including, freeze branding, recent developments in genetic abnormality testing, grazing management, and much more. National 4-H Dairy Conference
September 27-30, 2009
Madison, WI
The 2009 National Dairy Conference will be held in Madison, WI. This year's conference will include visits to ABS Global, Hoard's Dairyman, Nasco, Dairy Shrine Museum and the World Dairy Expo. There will be workshops about herd mating strategies, dairy food evaluation, AI, and much more. The cost for each delegate is $375.00 and registration is due Tuesday, July 22, 2009.
