The Rising Cost of Food

One of the criticisms of converting corn grain into ethanol is the fact that we are using a crop that can be used for food and converting it into fuel. This is a complex issue with people weighing in on both sides of the fence. Increases in food prices have some people concerned about how our renewable energy policies will impact food security.

A recent publication by MSU Extension attempts to take an objective approach aimed at informing the debate and then presents three approaches that we could take as a society to address the issue. This publication is not meant to "answer" all the questions, but rather to help communities and individuals think about how we can achieve our objectives.
