Increased societal demands to protect water and soil resources, and the ever-growing need to remedy contaminated soil and water has fostered a burgeoning environmental industry. Employment opportunities for the ESS student are increasing in local, state and federal agencies concerned with environmental protection, remediation and regulation. Job opportunities also exist with biotechnical companies developing environmental technologies, environmental firms concerned with site evaluation and remediation, and chemical industries concerned with the environmental fate of their products.
