International Support Funding Priorities
Endowed Foreign Student Fellowships These would be especially useful in recruiting outstanding foreign applicants and in supporting foreign students during their first semester or two at MSU because many lack good English language skills and aren't ready to assume assistantship responsibilities.
Visiting Foreign Scientist Endowment There is considerable demand among foreign scholars for extended study visits to MSU. While some are able to find financial support for such visits from there home institutions, governments or international faculty exchange programs, funding is problematic for many engaged in agriculture and natural resource professions because the majority of funds available are earmarked for those engaged in the basic sciences.
International Travel Support for CANR Faculty It is especially important for younger faculty and older faculty members who have limited contact with other countries, to gain exposure to the rest of the world. But, these are the faculty members who most often have the greatest difficulty obtaining support for foreign travel.
Endowment to Support International Research and Extension Programs While some funding is available for these programs, it is often for larger specific projects.
Study Abroad Endowments for Domestic Students International experience helps prepare students to succeed in a competitive global environment as citizens in a world economy. Named endowments help to cover travel and living expenses so that all students may participate in these experiences regardless of their financial situations.
