Land Management Office Funding Priorities
WaWaSum Endowment The WaWaSum Endowment will provide funds for maintenance for the preservation of this facility on the banks of the AuSable River. WaWaSum is a popular meeting location and retreat center for many fishing and environmental groups. Natural Resources graduate students also utilize the center for ongoing research projects.
Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education A covered arena at the Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education is needed to increase the flexibility for horse and other livestock shows. A covered warm-up area is needed as a result of the popularity and increased size of the shows utilizing the Pavilion. $400,000 will help complete the arena located at the south end of the Pavilion.
Tollgate Gardens EndowmentThe Tollgate Gardens Endowment provides ongoing funding for maintenance of gardens and demonstration pond area. The Tollgate Gardens have become a popular spot for gardeners in southeastern Michigan and a key location for extension and teaching. Various naming opportunities are available.
Muck Farm EndowmentThe Muck Farm serves as a research and extension facility for growers of onions, carrots and celery. It needs to be renovated in order to keep pace with today's technology and to better serve the industry. $500,000 is needed with various naming opportunities available.
Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center (SWMREC) The Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center seeks to expand their facilities by adding a Produce Building. $250,000 will complete the expansion of the facility for increased research and Extension education programs.
MSU Merillat Equine Center Endowment This facility is dedicated to teaching, research and extension in the areas of equine reproduction and horse management. Funds are needed to provide support for programs and activities related to the Michigan horse industry at this facility.
MacCready Reserve Endowment This property, located near Jackson, MI was established as an education and demonstration site for programs in the areas of forestry and fisheries and wildlife. Additional funding is needed to develop this valuable MSU resource.
Saginaw Valley Bean and Beet Farm The Saginaw Valley Bean and Beet Farm is one of 15 off-campus research stations and is looking to relocate their operations to a site more representative of the Saginaw Valley area. This facility is dedicated to sugar beets and dry bean research and the new site will also include other crops representative in the Saginaw Valley area. Funds are needed to complete this relocation so that this station may remain on the leading edge of sugar been and dry bean research.
