Diversity Development Opportunities
The CANR Office of Diversity and Pluralism and the Office of Academic and Student Affairs have established multiple, comprehensive initiatives to attract and support students, faculty and staff pursuing careers in food, agriculture and natural resources. Population and globalization trends require an increasingly diverse workforce and individuals who have the ability to work comfortably in multicultural environments. CANR Diversity initiatives will help students, staff, and faculty grow in agriculture and natural resources careers through financial support and professional development programs. To make a gift to Diversity Programs, please contact the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources External Relations Office.
Pre-College Experiential Learning Programs Endowment
CANR offers several pre-college programs designed to attract diverse middle
school and high school students to food, agriculture and natural resources
careers. The endowment will support one-week and six-week on campus programs
for students to participate in tours, demonstrations, hands-on experiences,
as well as social and cultural activities. The six-week program pairs students
with CANR faculty and staff on research projects in laboratories, greenhouses,
fields and rivers. Endowment funds help to cover stipends, research expenses,
room and board and other costs for students to participate in these
experiential, hands-on programs.
Diversity in Agriculture and Natural Resources Scholarships
Established to provide partial support to multicultural students pursuing degrees in
agriculture and natural resources disciplines. Specifically established to support
students who have participated in one of the CANR pre-college programs.
Professional Development Diversity Endowment
To provide support for professional development programs for undergraduate
students, graduate students, staff, and faculty to enhance a positive,
multicultural environment and better prepare students and faculty to
effectively contribute to diverse needs in agriculture and natural resource
fields. The endowment supports activities such as ANR Diversity Speaker
Series, mentoring program for students, staff and faculty, international
study, visiting scholar and faculty programs and other professional
development initiatives.
