Support and Advocacy
Students, staff at all levels, faculty, and administrators should feel free to come to the ODP to express issues and concerns. You will receive a supportive, listening, confidential environment as well as assistance, advocacy, referrals, and other support to address and assist in helping resolve your concerns.

Each year women and multicultural students seeking graduate degrees in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources will have the opportunity to compete for assistantships through the Office of Diversity and Pluralism. The assistantships provide support for tuition, health insurance, and stipends. Graduates of this program have gone on to become executives in food, agriculture and natural resource organizations, college administrators, professors and top researchers. Michigan State University attracts high caliber students for this program.

Mentoring Program
The Office of Diversity and Pluralism seeks mentors to work with graduate or undergraduate students. Mentors will be paired with motivated scholars and establish regular communication throughout the school year. Mentoring programs establish a connection between motivated students and professionals in agriculture and natural resources. It helps students better understand expectations of professional careers. The organization representative also gets a chance to interact with some of the brightest students in CANR.
MANRA
Minorities in Agriculture and Natural Resources Association (MANRA) is the Michigan State University chapter of the national organization, Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences. The national organization has its roots at Michigan State University. We encourage both undergraduate and graduate students to participate in MSU and national activities. In the past, MANRA has sponsored events such as the Welcome Reception for Multicultural Students in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Graduate Student Research Symposium, and Resume Book. The organization also collaborates with the Lansing School District to mentor young students. In addition, the local chapter has brought in speakers from companies such as Monsanto and Novartis. At the national level Michigan State University has had several students participate in the Graduate Oral Research Contest, Graduate Research Poster Contest, and National Chapter of the Year.
