Objective C-1 recognizes the importance of having a definitive PhD program in food toxicology and ingredient safety both to ensure the field has the future workforce it needs and to provide CRIS with the bench strength it needs to carry out its research agenda. It emphasizes CRIS’s role in supporting the development of such a program at Michigan State University.
Objective C-2 recognizes that developing bench strength in ingredient safety involves a broad range of graduate education – at MSU and elsewhere. It also seeks to leverage these educational programs by using graduate students as appropriate in carrying out the research agenda of CRIS.
Objective C-3 focuses on developing a capable workforce of ingredient safety toxicologists to meet current and future needs. It emphasizes assessing those workforce needs to determine what’s necessary to provide an adequate supply of highly qualified ingredient safety toxicologists.
Objective C-4 recognizes the need to provide ongoing training in ingredient safety toxicology to professionals already working in the field. It focuses on developing and implementing workshops that CRIS will provide to enhance the capability of the current workforce.
Objective C-5 emphasizes using the CRIS Annual Meeting as an appropriate opportunity to provide scientific updates and education to meeting participants.
