The Dairy Plant, where we make all the tasty treats available in the Dairy Store, is equipped to process a variety of natural cheeses and ice cream in a state-of-the-art processing system.
The Dairy Food Complex was fully renovated through special support by the State of Michigan. The Animal Industry Initiative (AII) project included modernization of all mechanical, electrical, lighting and communication systems within the building; window and exterior door replacement; life safety modifications; building changes to create accommodations for the physically challenged; and modernization of all research and teaching space. The renovated Dairy Food Complex (South Anthony Hall) houses the Dairy Store, the Dairy Plant, the Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Microbiology and Dairy/Food Rheology research laboratories as well as the new Food Chemistry teaching laboratory.
The products this center produces are sold to the public and to other MSU food service outlets through the Dairy Store, and our cheeses are also sold via mail order.
Our staff is chock full of Spartans who work daily to:
- Make tasty ice cream and cheeses
- Source quality ingredients
- Create new flavors to delight everyone’s taste buds
- Serve you with a smile (after all, it IS ice cream).
