The 9th Annual Animal Welfare Judging & Assessment competition will take place at MSU on Saturday, 11/21 and Sunday, 11/22. Four educational seminars will be presented on the morning of 11/21; the team assessments will take place on the afternoon of 11/21 and individual competition will take place on 11/22. Three divisions are held for undergraduate students, veterinary students and graduate students. Fourteen international teams are registered to attend this annual event. A mare's fertility can be influenced by such factors as her health, age and reproductive anatomy; stallion fertility and the breeding manager's technical skills. To help horse breeders learn more about increasing their chances of getting a mare in foal, Michigan State University (MSU) Extension's My Horse University and eXtension's HorseQuest will offer a free live webcast on Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. EST.

The Livestock Judging Team competed in the Eastern National Intercollegiate Judging Contest on Saturday, September 19 in Timonium, MD. The team finished 2nd overall, winning the oral reasons division and placing 3rd in beef, sheep, and swine. Cally Hass was high individual in Beef and 2nd overall, while Bailey Albright was high individual in oral reasons. Anjuli Doyle finished 4th in Sheep, while Rebecca Brown and Kelli Rau finished 9th and 10th in Swine, respectively.
