Dr. Booren is a Professor and Extension Specialist in the Departments of Animal Science; Food Science and Human Nutrition. He has been at Michigan State University for twenty-eight years during which his efforts have been directed in the areas of fresh and processed red meat, poultry and fish. His research interests include precooked meat, meat flavor, ingredients used in processed meats and various additives used in meat and meat products to extend shelf life. In addition, he teaches in the Meat Science area and oversees the Meat Laboratory pilot plant operations that include meat production, HACCP and USDA inspection.
