Responsibility
Chair of Department

Dr. Plaut’s major responsibilities are to help guide the research, teaching and extension mission of the department.  In that role, she acts as a spokesperson and leader for the department, works with the faculty to set research priorities, tries to understand the needs of students and help provide a curriculum that provides our students with the best opportunities for the future.  She also works with the extension groups to set priorities for the future and ensure that we are meeting the needs of the stakeholders whether they are commodity groups, individuals or 4-H families.  Dr. Plaut also has a research program that focuses on mammary development and lactation.  She works primarily with cows and model systems in the lab.  She also does research on human breast cancer.
