My primary responsibility is to provide outreach and programming in the mission areas of research, extension, teaching and service to address issues related to the welfare of animals, with a focus on farm livestock and poultry. The overarching goal is to contribute to, and to facilitate, the achievement of a socially responsible and sustainable approach to animal care and use in the food system using an integrated systems framework. I hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Large Animal Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
