Extension faculty and staff in the Department of Animal Science help people improve their lives through an educational process that applies knowledge to critical issues, needs and opportunities. We engage animal industry stakeholders in integration and application of relevant, research-based knowledge in biology and management using multidisciplinary approaches. These disciplines include genetics, nutrition, health, physiology, meats and management. In addition, we provide specialized youth development opportunities in animal agriculture through 4-H educational programs. Extension programs are delivered by state-wide specialists and field agents working together in Area of Expertise (AoE) teams.
