2014 LA Distinguished Speaker Series: Special Belle Isle Event

The MSU Landscape Architecture Alumni & Advisory Board and the MSU Landscape Architecture Program are hosting a special event at Belle Isle in Detroit related to its 2014 Distinguished Speaker Series on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014.

Ethan Carr, Olmstead Scholar and associate professor of Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts, will give a special presentation on “Federick Law Olmsted: Portrait of a Designer.” There will also be tours of Belle Isle and the historic Belle Isle Detroit Boat Club, and a reception accompanied by the MSU Jazz Band following Carr’s presentation.

Agenda:

3 p.m.: Self-Guided Tours of Belle Isle (Guide available at the James Scott Memorial Fountain)

5 p.m.: Guided Tour of the historic Belle Isle Detroit Boat Club

6 p.m.: Meet and Greet Ethan Carr at the historic Belle Isle Detroit Boat Club

6:30 p.m.: Carr’s presentation on “Frederical Law Olmsted: Portrait of a Designer”

7:45-10 p.m.: Reception at the historic Belle Isle Aquarium and Conservatory (accompanied by the MSU Jazz Band)
