Career Building Reception Event | Emerging Planning Professionals
Date: November 19, 2015
Time: 5-9 p.m.
Location: Detroit, MI
MAP is bringing resources, information and our network of tremendous professionals to planning students and emerging planning professionals, for one night of networking and education. This evening event will provide direct person-to-person information to help ease your transition into the planning profession.
The event will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and will be organized with participants moving from station to station, encountering many professionals along the way (30+ seasoned professionals from various planning specialties, that’ll be 3:1 student:professional ratio).
Stations will include:
- Resume 101: Resume review! The EPP’s have asked for it, and we want to help! MAP is providing a few professionals to actually review attendees resumes. Three minutes to mark-up the highlights and lowlights for job pursuing planners to gain insight into what’s not working (and what is!).
- Public Speaking: How to plan for different audiences and settings.
- Land Use Resources: What you need and where to find it (funding, laws/regulations, whose jurisdiction is this?)
- Interview Insights: How to let YOU shine through… and get the job!
- And much more!
