Farrier Science Course for the Horse Owner

Date: August 11, 2015 - August 31, 2015
Time: 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Location: MSU Horse Teaching and Research Center

The course instructor is David Hallock, APF, CIF, ASF, DWCF, Certified Journeyman Farrier, and Advanced Skills Farrier.

This 15-week comprehensive course is open to the public and will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The course begins September 8 and runs through December 15, 2015.

Topics covered will include anatomy and physiology of the leg and hoof, leg and hoof dissection, diseases of the hoof, trimming, shoeing, and therapeutic shoeing. Practical, hands-on skills will be taught.

The course will be held at the MSU Horse Teaching and Research Center, 3327 Collins Rd, Lansing, MI 48910. Classes will be held in a classroom setting, as well as in unheated areas, please bring appropriate clothing and footwear.


The registration fee is $400 and is due by August 31, 2015.
