Lake City Potato and Cattle Field Day

The latest in potato production and forage-based livestock practices will be showcased at the Lake City Research Center Field Day.Sessions will focus on irrigation performance of forage cattle, grass-fed cattle performance, grass-fed cattle genetics and data, bull selection, neutral detergent fiber feeding performance, greenhouse gas flux monitoring and pasture establishment.

Lake City Research Center manager Doug Carmichael and AgBioResearch scientist Jason Rowntree will lead discussions and demonstrations on cover crop grazing, k-line irrigation for grass finishing, wintering costs for cows and stockers, cost of renovation-improved pasture vs. native ground, and red Angus genetics.

There is a $10 registration fee for the field day. Children under the age of 12 may attend for free. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the program starts at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided at noon, and the event concludes at 3 p.m. For more information, please call 231-839-4608.
