MSU Center for Regional Food Systems Quarterly Affiliates Meeting - Public Invitation!

Date: May 12, 2015 - May 12, 2015
Location: MSU Federal Credit Union Community Room, 4825 East Mount Hope Road, East Lansing, Michigan 48823

Each quarterly affiliates meeting showcases the work of CRFS affiliates or partners. The goal of these meetings is to catalyze local and regional food systems efforts by highlighting current work and facilitating connections.

You are invited to attend or stream this quarter’s meeting on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

There will be two presentations, followed by discussion:

MSU College Assistance Migrant Program (MSU CAMP)
Raul (Rudy) Ramos, CAMP Associate Director
Elias Lopez, CAMP Recruitment Coordinator
Mr. Ramos and Mr. Lopez will describe the Michigan State University College Assistance Migrant Program Scholars Initiative (MSU CAMP) and how CRFS Affiliates and Staff might engage CAMP students in their work. CAMP is an educational program that offers individuals with migrant or seasonal farm work backgrounds, a unique opportunity to begin an undergraduate program in MSU. This program offers the best conditions in order to help our students.

Natural Resources Conservation Service: Conservation Planning
Garry Lee, Michigan State Conservationist, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
Mr. Lee will discuss how the Natural Resources Conservation Service delivers on its conservation mission locally, through field offices in nearly every county in the United States. Through strong partnerships and on-site evaluation of the land’s resources - soil, water, air, plant, animal communities, and energy - NRCS field staff develop conservation plans that help landowners achieve their conservation goals. NRCS technical expertise and financial assistance work together to make these conservation plans a reality.

The meeting will be held in the Community Room at the MSU Federal Credit Union’s Farm Lane Branch. Free parking is available on site.

If you are unable to attend in person, you may join remotely through Adobe Connect at: (Sincere apologies if you tried but were unable to join February’s meeting due to our technical difficulties! We have worked to resolve the issue this time around.)
