MSU Homecoming Week
Date: October 8, 2012 - October 13, 2012
Join the MSU Alumni Association for Homecoming, October 8-13, 2012. Imagine a slight chill in the air, leaves turning to the vibrant hues of autumn, and a campus electric with the energy of returning alumni, students and the East Lansing community. While the football team gears up for a home victory, alumni and students will enjoy fun activities in Spartan style.
The celebration will include deep-rooted traditions – the Homecoming Parade, the MSU Alumni Association Grand Awards Ceremony, the Green and White pre-game brunch, the Student Alumni Foundation Family Weekend tent, the MSUAA tailgate tent – as well as plenty of new and entertaining activities throughout the week as momentum builds toward Homecoming weekend and Saturday’s game against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
This year’s Homecoming theme is Spartans Will…Make History which will highlight the history of Michigan State University and those that have contributed to its legacy. Because of his many contributions to MSU, Athletics Director Mark Hollis will serve as the Homecoming Grand Marshal. In addition we will honor the 150th anniversary of the Morrill Act.
The MSU Alumni Association invites student and community groups to enter the parade. The entry deadline is Friday, September 28, 2012. You and your group will be able to march, ride or dance down the parade route along with the MSU Spartan Marching Band, MSU Homecoming Court, selected Michigan high school bands and other featured entries.
Remember to show your Homecoming Spartan Spirit by Glowing Green all week long. For more information on the “Glow Green” tradition, click here.
The Homecoming Court Committee has selected ten MSU students to serve on the 2012-2013 Homecoming Court. The court will represent MSU throughout the year at a variety of MSU, community, and statewide functions. Click here to see information on the Homecoming Court.
