The MIplace Partnership Initiative, in cooperation with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, the Michigan Municipal League, the MSU Land Policy Institute, and MSU Extension Land Use Educators, prepared a six-module Placemaking Training Curriculum two years ago. Hundreds of training programs have been offered throughout Michigan since then to more than 11,000 people. This year, from March-May, the LPI and MSU Extension are co-hosting more than 30 training workshops to be offered in communities across Michigan on Placemaking Strategy Development.
This training is three (3) hours long and provides instruction from Modules 1-3 of the MIplace Placemaking Curriculum.
- Module 1: People, Places and Placemaking
- Module 2: Economics of Place
- Module 3: Neighborhoods, Streets,and Connections
This workshop is for city councils and township boards; local, county and regional planning commissioners and staff; local economic development staff and other interested stakeholders.
Michigan Citizen Planner is offering three (3) CEUs (continuing education units), one (1) CEU/one (1) hour of instruction, for Master Citizen Planners for their participation. AICP credits (3) are also available.
