On Feb. 1, 2016, join nearly 150 students from planning programs around Michigan and beyond at Michigan Association of Planning’s (MAP) 10th Student Michigan Association of Planning (SMAP) conference. Attendees will hear from planning professionals and land use experts about regional transportation, site plan review, placemaking and economic development, and innovative transportation solutions, from confirmed professional presenters: Tiffany Gunter from the Regional Transit Authority, Jill Bahm from Clearzoning, Inc., Lisa Nuszkowski from Detroit Bike Share, Daniel Brooks from the Detroit Bus Company, Adrianna Jordan from Freshwater Transit, Sarah Craft from the Michigan Municipal League, and members of MAP’s Emerging Planning Professionals Committee.
Take the opportunity to sit with 20+ planning professionals in a roundtable mentoring session and get valuable advice and insight into the existing planning network and attend student sessions presented by some of Michigan’s brightest future planners.
Then, when the sessions end, hop on the mobile tour bus at Wayne State University and head into the heart of Detroit to take in Campus Martius park and Winter Blast 2016. On the way, hear from the Downtown Detroit Partnership about the park itself and how the Business Improvement Zone is impacting Downtown Detroit.
