2014 Student MAP Conference: Urban Regeneration

Time: 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.

The Michigan Associaton of Planning (MAP) is hosting their 8th annual Student Conference on Jan. 31 at Easterm Michigan University’s Student Center in Ypsilanti. With more than 125 participants regularly in attendance, plan to meet students from EMU, Grand Valley State University, Lawrence Technological University, Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Western Michigan University. This year’s conference focuses on Urban Regeneration.

Plan to attend inspiring and informative sessions from:

  • Opening Keynote: Harvey Hollins, Director of Urban Initiatives, Office of the Governor of Michigan.
  • Lunch Keynote: Mayor Dayne Walling, City of Flint.
  • State experts will discuss rebuilding and planning for the regeneration of Michigan cities and towns; practical applications of GIS; state redevelopment strategies and programs; and volunteer land use professionals will provide career counseling.
  • Students will present committee-selected sessions on SketchUp; climate change adaptation; public WiFi; brownfield development; transportation and accessibility; blight; neighborhood form; and more!

Registration is $35. Instruction, lunch, refreshments, a mobile tour, and reception are included. Students must register through MAP’s online registration.
