The Michigan State University (MSU) School of Packaging will host the 28thannual Student Packaging Jamboree March 21-23.

The event will provide an opportunity for packaging students throughout the nation and Canada to unite for a weekend of networking and learning.

“The jamboree is a great opportunity,” said Kellie Mussell, a sophomore packaging major from Midland, Mich., and a member of the event planning committee. “The School of Packaging is honored to be hosting the annual jamboree.”

The conference includes talks by industry professionals, an opportunity to interact with industry experts through a panel discussion, a showcase display of innovative packages and a design competition. An expected 250 students will attend, Mussell said.

This year’s theme is “Innovation in Design and Sustainability.” Speakers will discuss innovations in their companies’ packaging departments as well as strides they are making to create more sustainable packages.

The MSU School of Packaging was established in 1952 and is one of the premier programs in the field. It strives to create the best possible networking and educational opportunities for packaging students and is the first program to offer undergraduate and graduate education programs in conjunction with research to find advances in packaging technology.
