Dry bean and sugar beet professionals will lead tours and informational seminars Aug. 21 during the annual Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center field day.
Activities will include tours of the dry bean and sugar beet breeding variety trials. Michigan State University (MSU) AgBioResearch scientists Chris DiFonzo, Jim Kelly, Christy Sprague and Kurt Steinke, along with industry expert Greg Varner and U.S. Department of Agriculture scientist Linda Hanson, will lead discussions on pest management in field crops, weed control, dry bean breeding and varieties, nitrogen research, sugar beet disease management, and fertility in sugar beets and corn.
There is a $20 fee for registration. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with field day activities beginning at 9 a.m. The event will conclude with a noon luncheon.
