News from the Prezs (Erin and Rolo):
- For those graduating sign up for thesis fund for thesis printing. You must of participated in 2 of 3: 1) participate in a fundraiser 2)attend meetings and social events 3)held appointed position in HOGS
- The lily fundraiser may be pushed back a week- they are a little slow. The PBG meeting is Dec 18th so may shoot to sell around then.
- T-shirt designs: will vote for this week. The designs will be on the bulletin board and will receive email when to vote.
Faculty: ERIK RUNKLE- HOGS advisor
50/50 Research and extension. Been here since 1994 and was once HOGS president. He is interested in greenhouse crops and floriculture and applying all his research to nature. He is available to talk to in terms of future academia.
GPC Rep (Dario):
- New for masters students: must write brief research proposal and submit within 2 semesters of enrollment
- Proposed page for thesis: signature page for committee members
- Recruitment: funds and applications are down. We need better recruitment. Some ideas: update department web page, make links to financial aide, list scholarships available***
Scholarships received in our department will allow us to receive more funds. We need to get word out there that these are available.
Faculty Rep. (Chrisyln):
- Faculty wants ideas on subjects we want to learn for module courses. We may even be able to break down present courses into smaller subjects.
Social Chairs (Grant & Yufei):
- COGS negotiating insurance plan. Check their website for more details www.msu.edu/~cogs
- BROOMBALL Saturday December 4th from 10:15-11:15 pm at Munn Arena
- CHRISTMAS PARTY Saturday December 10th with HORT club
- SKI TRIP January 29th staying at Northwest Station Dorms
