August 2005 Meeting Minutes

Matt, Roberto- Co-President:

            -recap of Lugnuts game: fun and will do it again next year

            -increase HOGS attendance: recruit on each floor, update list of graduate students

-community volunteer program: adopt river clean-up on Sept 17 at 8am- clean river near Shiawasse St. Bridge, lunch provided

                        -good opportunity for HOGS to help community

            -meetings this year Tuesdays 11:30 am

Erin- Social Coordinator:

            -graduate curriculum:

-check out web page to view courses suggested

-courses for areas outside our department are lacking on web page

-we need to update classes and give feed-back on classes we have taken

-email Erin with classes you have taken by Friday Aug 19, 2005

            -Fall Trip to Chicago Sept 9-11:

                        -Botanical Garden- $20/van or $12/car

                        -Morten Arboretum- $7/person

                        -van and gas- $270

-watch for email and reply by Friday August 19, 2005 in interest of attending trip

                        -HOGS will pay $ depending on number who want to attend

            -Film Festival Thursday- meet at park and bring snacks to pass around

                        -Film is Back to the Future

             -Halloween Party: 1 of 2 weekends- Oct 21^st or Oct 28^th

Kristin- GPC Rep:

            -think of topics for 894 spring seminar

-Bert teaching permanent course – will know more in future, but there is a lot of interest from students

-1 new grad student under Dr. Biernbaum

-new student tour Aug 25-26, orientation Aug 24, grad school orientation Aug 27

-Aug 26 Picnic at Lake Lansing: all families invited
