September 2005 Meeting Minutes
Matt and Roberto: Co- Presidents:
- spring semester topics- will find out who is taking the class and get suggestions on the topic
- spring seminar series- need suggestions about sponsoring professor for our series- email with any ideas
- Saturday September 17 at 8 am HOGS participating in River Clean-up, meet under Shiawashee bridge near Lansing market and will provide lunch
Erin: Social Chair:
- Halloween Party: tentatively on October 21 tentatively at Hort Farm, Hort Club hay ride October 20; may have party Oct. 28- look for email
- Fall trip: day trip to Hidden Lake Gardens, Meijer Gardens, Dow Gardens- look for email to vote- will be going on a Friday afternoon
- Wharton center has discounted student tickets; also giving free tickets out if you sign up for email from them and there are left over- must attend meeting after show to discuss impact: look for email with more detail
Dan: COGS rep:
- Working on getting online music and movie company to allow students to download for fee- tentatively $10/semester
- Friday September 16 from 5-7pm at HARPERS benefit for Hurricane Katrina- $5 tickets for 2 drinks and appetizers or $7.50 at the door- email Dan if want tickets
- October 7: water carnival- floats decorated will go down Red Cedar River
- October 21 is university bonfire open to everyone
- There is still $ for travel grants- go to website to apply
- Looking for representatives- find info on website
Steve: Hort Club HOGS rep:
- 1st meeting is on Wednesday-
- annual hay ride oct 21
- camping trip oct 7-9: look for email and updates
Kristen: GPC rep:
- talked about why there are so few graduate students- cost is high
- will discuss at next meeting maybe getting help with benefits
- may need better marketing system to entice more students
- Steve Vanocker needs support to start new class: it will be 3 1-credit courses that are offered 10 wks/course; email response to Kristen
FUND RAISER:
- Art Cameron has donated tropical plants
- We will sell them around mid-October
- Look for email with more info
