• All IFLR courses are fully accredited through Michigan State University.
  • No prerequisite courses or degrees.
  • No transcripts from prior study required.
  • No GRE required.
  • No application fee.
  • No required book purchases.
  • We recommend that students take only one course per semester if they are also working full time.
  • Students earn a certificate after successful completion of 12 credits.
  • Up to nine 9 credits with a minimum grade of 3.0 may be eligible for transfer to a graduate program.
  • Students enroll through MSU's Lifelong Education Program.

Enrolling through MSU LifeLong Education (step-by-step)

  • New students, or those who have not been enrolled within the past two consecutive semesters enroll via MSU's LifeLong Education portal.
  • Be sure to select "LifeLong" (not freshman, graduate, transfer or graduate certificate, even if you intend to pursue the IFLR certificate). This link will take your directly to the LIfeLong application.
  • If the application shows a $50 fee, you are under the wrong application. Go back and select "LifeLong," which does not require an application fee.
  • Answer "No" to the question, "Do you plan to use any courses to renew or upgrade a valid or expired teaching certificate?"
  • Note your password.
  • Note your Application Number, which you will receive upon submitting your application.
  • Please send an email to IFLR@anr.msu.edu with your desired course name and your Application Number so that we can do the override required for all students who wish to enroll in our courses. IFLR does not have access to your application and course selection information.
  • Click here if you are interested in taking these courses for "information only" and do not wish to earn college credit.

  • Courses are offered in the fall, spring and summer semesters.
  • Please consult the course offerings schedule to see offerings by semester.
