Hiring Organization: Hidden Lake Gardens
Employment type: Temporary
Application Deadline: March 2, 2015
Job Location: Tipton, MI
One of the lesser-known specialties of Hidden Lake Gardens is our propagation program. Join us as we share what we know about some of the rare plants of the Harper Collection of Dwarf and Rare Conifers. Now condensed into one day!
Learn the art and science of making more conifers (cone-bearing plants) with this popular hands-on class. Staff and volunteers will share their extensive knowledge and experience on the nuances of propagation. Designed for the beginning propagator, this seminar will share techniques even experienced propagators will appreciate.
Focused propagation topics will include hardwood cuttings and grafting – these will be covered in two separate classes, with plants from the HLG collections. Information on how to care for your new hopefuls will be provided as attendees will take all plants home. Species will likely include Thuja, Juniperus, Pinus, Picea, and Abies. Time and weather dependent, a tour of the HLG propagation facility or the Harper Collection will follow.
Advance registration is required, but experience is not. Price includes care instructions, lunch, and 16 cuttings and 6 grafted plants.
Taught by Hidden Lake Garden staff and volunteers.
$100 per person / $90 per person for Friends of HLG $125 per person after Feb 21. Registration is limited and will close on March 1st.
