Dayton Dragons Professional Baseball Team Director, Field Operations Job Description

 

 

 

Day Air Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons will undergo a full field renovation in the Fall of 2023. Improvements include the installation of a new sand base Kentucky Bluegrass playing surface, infield skin, warning track, game and bullpen mounds, irrigation, and underground drainage system.

 

POSITION

The Dayton Dragons are currently looking for a Director, Field Operations for the Dayton Dragons. The Dayton Dragons are in Dayton, Ohio and are the High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced, energetic environment and be willing to work varied hours.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Director, Field Operations, you will be directly responsible for the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed

safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

  • Creating a comprehensive maintenance program to maintain the playing field, grass berms, plaza, and exterior areas of Day Air Ballpark at professional
  • Ensuring maintenance plans are managed which includes the implementation of fertilization and irrigation programs of all required turf
  • Develop and accomplish objectives within the allotted
  • Coordinate all required inspections and maintenance contracts as needed (irrigation, turf equipment, snow plowing, fertilization etc.).
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate tools and equipment that are needed to accomplish
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and development of ground
  • Communicate with the Senior Director of Operations and Team Field Manager on playing field conditions.
  • Communicate with AccuWeather and prepare the field for inclement weather conditions and schedule tarp pulls as
  • Assist with the implementation of certain stadium maintenance projects as needed during off-season.
  • Prepare for special events, including concerts, tournaments, high school games and sponsor days at the park that are held at Day Air
  • Exhibiting “unsurpassed customer service” always (internal and external customers).
  • Assuring overall appearance of field and other grounds spaces are ready for start of
  • Having a team player attitude with additional tasks around stadium not related to
  • Responsible for thorough knowledge of management company policies and property community policies.
  • Responsible for seeking educational opportunities and self-improvement for personal growth and development.
  • Coordinate snow removal for stadium and parking lot during winter
  • Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, web-based training courses, field days and trade
  • Complete course and necessary certifications for field maintenance and chemical

 

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES

Candidate must be able to work inside/outside and in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

REQUIREMENTS
