Farm Garden and Livestock Manager / Intern
Start: Spring 2018 (Dates Flexible) End: Fall 2018
Summary: Come manage the farm garden and grass-fed beef operation for a hop farm in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. At Loftus Ranches, our primary focus is growing 1,100 acres of hops, but we also want our employees and their families to eat well! We have around 50 head of Red Devon cattle and we practice high-density “mob” grazing to maximize pasture health, as well as animal productivity and weight gain. We also have several irrigated acres set aside to devote to a diverse farm garden. In addition, we encourage the prospective intern to establish new projects such as: pastured poultry, a perennial garden, etc.
Compensation: $15/hr. Produce from the farm garden
Housing: The farm will not be able to provide housing, but we will assist in your housing search. Housing is available in the area and expect to pay $400-800/mo. depending on whether you will have roommates, etc.
