The Old White TPC at The Greenbrier is seeking motivated individuals to be interns for the 2018 season. Candidates submitting applications should have a strong desire to advance in the Turfgrass Industry and have a goal of becoming a golf course superintendent. Candidates should have a desire to learn, possess a strong attention to detail, have a sense of urgency, and a willingness to listen and share their ideas.
The Greenbrier Resort, known as "America's Resort," is a world renowned resort set on 11,000 acres of land and offers guests many activities both indoor and outdoor. The Old White TPC was built in 1914 and designed by C.B. McDonald and was the first of three golf courses built at The Greenbrier. The Old White TPC hosts the annual PGA Tour event, The Greenbrier Classic. Since the flood that caused extensive damage to The Old White TPC and cancelled the 2016 Greenbrier Classic, the course has been completely restored. Keith Foster led the restoration, honoring the original design of C.B. McDonald and Seth Reynor, which included new greens, fairways, tees, and bunkers. The 2018 Greenbrier Classic is set for July and chosen candidates with have the opportunity to prepare the course and experience a PGA Tour event. Interns will learn, but are not limited to, routine golf course maintenance practices, agronomic practices, extensive water management, and fertilizer and chemical calibration and application methods.
