Grounds Crew Internship – 2018

The Elizabethtown Sports Park is a 158 acre youth sports complex that features 12 cool season baseball and softball fields, 10 poly-stand Bluegrass/Bermuda grass multi-use sports fields, 2 synthetic turf multi-use sports fields, and 1 rubberized surface, ADA accessible ball diamond.   Operationally, the park features state of the art sports lighting, irrigation control system, and a top notch maintenance facility with quality equipment.  Construction was completed in summer 2012, with the park opening thereafter.  The park hosts a wide array of high profile, competitive youth sports (softball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, football, cross country, and more) tournaments and events featuring teams from all over North America including, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada.


The grounds crew  intern will expierence and learn all aspects of the maintenance and upkeep of the park.



  • Performing field preparations for baseball, softball, soccer, football, lacrosse, and cross country
  • Assisting in the implentation of fertilization, irrigation, aerification and pesticide programs
  • Maintaining the parks landscape and surrounding grounds areas
  • Experiencing what it takes to grow both warm season and cool season grasses in the transition zone


  • Must be enrolled in or recent graduate of a 2 or 4 year Turfgrass Management program or related field.
  • Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and overtime including holidays in varying environmental conditions.
  • Must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and be willing to learn
  • Must have the ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check



This position will be paid a rate of $10.00 to $12.00/hour (DOE) with time and a half paid after 40 hours; Interns are responsible for their own housing arrangements


Season Dates: From March 1 to October 31, flexible based on school schedule.
