Organic Farm Manager

Teter Organic Farm, a project of Noblesville First United Methodist Church (NFUMC), is seeking candidates to develop and manage a 34-acre diversified organic farm in central Indiana.

Farm Description
Teter Organic Farm sits on a total of 120-acres located on the banks of the White River just north of Indianapolis in Noblesville, Indiana. We are a non-profit outreach ministry of Noblesville First United Methodist Church which seeks to enrich the lives of our community through sustainable agriculture.

Our primary mission is to provide high-quality, organically grown produce to those in our community who are experiencing food insecurity through community partnerships with local food pantries and food banks. We also host outdoor wedding ceremonies, family reunions, corporate outings, and have seasonal family fun days on the farm.

In 2017 we plan to increase our vegetable production and start a 20-member CSA, add 1-acre of cut flower production, and begin to provide educational opportunities for adults, youth, and children related to sustainable agriculture and creation care,

We currently have one acre in organic production and have an additional 34 acres in the second year of transition to certified organic production. The property also contains a 7 hive apiary, a heated 72’x30’ hoophouse, 20 acres in a CRP conservation program, 40 acres of mature forest, 10 acres of recreation space (including a lodge, cabins, picnic shelter, fire pits, and a playground), and a 15 acre hardwood tree farm.

Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will be an experienced farmer, with an entrepreneurial spirit, willing to both cast a creative vision for the farm, as well as, carry out the work to accomplish that vision. Maintain an active faith and desire to live out the Christian values of service, prayer, simplicity, and community, and possess strong organizational, communication, time management, and mentoring skills.

Compensation and Schedule

  • This is a full-time, year-round position.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • On-site farmhouse is provided including utilities. Pets are welcome.
