The position is responsible for providing technical support to property owners and organizations, and providing outreach efforts to promote the use of small-scale storm water runoff controls (low impact design (LID) techniques) on residential and commercial properties through the RainScapes Program in the Department of Environmental Protection. The position works in a team environment with other staff and external groups and/or consultants to conduct field evaluations and develop site-specific design recommendations for small-scale retrofit runoff controls. The types of retrofit run off controls (RainScapes techniques) include, but are not limited to, rain gardens, conservation landscaping, canopy trees, rain barrels, cisterns, and pervious pavement. Work effort includes developing and implementing targeted RainScapes outreach to identified communities. Experience with landscape design and construction as it pertains to LID/RainScapes techniques; knowledge of plants for storm water management; field experience with building and overseeing RainScapes techniques to manage drainage and project review is necessary for this position.
Considerable (3 years) experience in a planning specialization appropriate to the use of on-site, LID
storm water management techniques and the planning and implementation of environmental outreach efforts.
Graduation from an accredited college or University with a Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, environmental engineering, environmental education, natural resources management, or related environmental field.
An equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.
