Michigan 4-H Youth Development is excited to announce the 2019 Michigan 4-H Animal Science Sportsperson of the Year is Caleb Hall of Shiawassee County. Hall joins an elite group of Sportsmanship winners from years past.

This year’s selection committee had the difficult task of narrowing down one winner from a pool of impressive nominations from across the state. Hall received nine nominations, and that in itself is an incredible accomplishment. Reading through the nominations, it became quickly clear why so many individuals felt strongly enough about Hall’s character and sportsmanship. Their nomination letters were accompanied by an enthusiastic letter of support from Nikki Hersch, Shiawassee County 4-H program coordinator.

The nominators shared stories of leadership, mentorship to other 4-H youth, determination and passion for his animal projects, and his bright personality. Additionally, Hall was awarded Shiawassee County’s John & Joan Spindler Sportsmanship Award in 2019.

We congratulate Hall again and Michigan 4-H is proud to have individuals like him representing our programs. It’s because of individuals like Hall and their dedication to 4-H Animal Science programs that we’re able to provide positive experiences to youth and adults throughout our state.
