2023 Green Science Adventures Camp Day 3!

Here's a look into a fun filled day three of camp!

Recycling Presentation with Tamsin Andres

Today our campers learned all about how to recycle and how it helps our Earth! Tamsin was so lovely to come in and spend time with everyone to show everyone we all need to recycle for our Earth. At the end each camper got to bring home a cute tote bag to keep on reusing!

Track Trap

Another day, another track trap! Campers put out their traps yesterday to document any footprints left by animals and did they happen to get a visitor in all of them! Once again a baby racoon (the same one from yesterday) made its way back to our farm for more treats. Don't worry it's safe and sound, Ellen Russel saved the day!

Animal Chores: Chickens, Rabbits and Ducks

The campers were busy with animal chores today! This morning the Green Peppers got to play with the bunnies outside in a little pen and the rest cleaned their cage. Which was so sweet of them! The Yellow Peppers went over and cleaned the chicken coop today then collected some eggs to put in the freezer. It's so kind of our campers to help care for the animals at MSU Tollgate Farms.

Garden Kitchen: Dirt Cups & Beet Salad

This morning, our campers got a sweet treat! They made a dirt cup which is yogurt, chocolate, oreos, maple syrup (curtsey of Tollgate), vanilla wafer and gummy worms then topped with some strawberries. In the afternoon, campers made a beet salad with garlic sauce. Our Garden Kitchen leader made sure to tie in what the campers were learning about seeds, gardening and pollen.

Weather delay

As noon rolled around, we had to move our campers inside due to the air quality being unsafe. It's important keep our campers safe and healthy. Some activities got postponed until the next day but we made do with creating marshmallow bridges, playing the alphabet game, heads up 7UP, and many more games to keep the campers occupied the rest of the day. Even with some changes the spirits were high and campers are eager for tomorrow! Shoutout to our Steward, Noah for reading a book to the kids as a way to pass the time!
