Patricia Jaimes, an MSU doctoral student in the Earth and Environmental Sciences department as well as a Bailey Scholars Program research fellow received one of only 10 of the prestigious El Café del Futuro scholarships this year. Jaimes was awarded the scholarship due to her passion for community involvement and determination to pursue higher education despite challenges. Jaimes is working with MSU professor Julie Libarkin, who nominated her for the award. Jaimes' research interests include exploring resources and assets which minority students can use to succeed in the scientific community even when faced with adversity.
