CANR Dean's Update - Jan. 20, 2017

A message from Ron Hendrick, dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Colleagues:

In Hollywood, the first quarter of the year is full of award shows. They give awards for who's the best singer? Songwriter? Filmmaker? Writer? Actor? Actress? It's a big time of year.

At Michigan State University, we have our own award 'season' so to speak. This year, some of our own are being recognized among the University's best and brightest.

Among them:

William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award
Bradley Marks, Professor, Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering

Distinguished Academic Staff Awards
Jordan Pusateri Burroughs, Outreach Specialist, MSU Extension
Terry McLean, Educator, MSU Extension

These awards will be given on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the annual Awards Convocation in the Pasant Theatre at the Wharton Center.

Excellence in Diversity Award
Lifetime Achievement
Eunice Foster, Professor, Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences

Excellence in Diversity Award
Excellent Progress toward Diversity Collaboration
Native American Institute

These awards will be given during an awards ceremony on Monday, Feb. 13 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.

MSU Distinguished Partnership Award for Community-Engaged Teaching
MIplace Partnership Initiative
Mark A. Wyckoff, Professor, Land Policy Institute, School of Planning, Design, and Construction, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
With the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and Michigan Municipal League

MSU Distinguished Partnership Award for Community-Engaged Service
Building a Statewide Research Network Based on Community Engagement
Jeffrey W. Dwyer, Professor, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources; Director, MSU Extension; Professor, Department of Family Medicine, College of Human Medicine
With Mid-Michigan Health, the UP Health System-Marquette, and Munson Medical Center

These awards will be given during a ceremony at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
