Congratulations to Noleen Chikowore for earning travel funds to attend the Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop, which is a competitively selective professional development program of the annual Engagement Scholarship Consortium conference.

Noleen is a third year PhD student and Fulbright scholar committed to understanding sustainable decision-making in underserved communities. Her research focuses on the interplay between waste management, human health, collective action, and decision-making in urban centers in Zimbabwe.

As a student in CSUS Noleen has been able to develop her skills in participatory modeling and been exposed to new methods meant to integrate community concerns/knowledge and formal scientific assessments, leading to more equitable urban planning. Dr. Steven Gray is Noleen's advisor.
