The Michigan State University Extension field crops team and Eaton County MSU Extension will host the 2018 Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education (4301 Farm Lane, Lansing, MI 48910).
Participants will receive seven MDARD restricted use pesticide credits (Com. Core, Priv. Core, 1A), 6.5 CCA credits (1.0 NM, 1.0 SW, 2.0 PM, 2.5 CM) and MAEAP phase 1 credit for this session.
This program is intended for agribusinesses, farmers, retail sales, crop consultants and service professionals, Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) officials and private crop consultants. This event will provide agribusiness industries with MSU pesticide recommendations in a timely fashion so they can make their bulk purchasing and sales decisions before the year’s end. Participants will receive MSU Extension 2019 recommendations for potential weed, insect and disease problems and fertilizer practices.
The Michigan field crops industry encountered another challenging year associated with flooding, drought, rising input costs and resistance management of pests. The agenda will include a review of the 2018 growing season, on-farm research, soil fertility, insect and weed resistance management and the 2019 Weed Control Guide for Field Crops Bulletin E-434.
