Christine Vogt, professor in the Department of Community Sustainability, is completing her nine month research fellowship at Singapore National Parks.

She has worked with the park studies unit on  research about the social value of parks and greenery in Singapore. Singapore has 381 parks on its main island and a new marine park in the planning stages.

Vogt selected three regional water parks to collect data for testing social interaction levels and other forms of social functioning in park settings. She presented her results to a Parks Seminar titled "Urban Green Space Management" on July 31, 2014 (picture) and to park managers in mid July.  In early July, she conducted a two-day training on "Ins and Outs of Research Proposal Writing" patterned after the MSU Grant Writing course she teaches.

Vogt will spend the remainder of her sabbatical in Chicago meeting with Illinois-based park agencies and continue to work on her research publications. She returns to the MSU classroom in January 2015.
