Join us for two Blueberry Preharvest Twilight Meetings in Van Buren and Ottawa counties

EmailTwo blueberry preharvest management meetings on June 13 and June 21 will help keep blueberry growers abreast of conditions during harvest.
A pair of blueberry preharvest twilight meetings is scheduled on Wednesday, June 13, in Van Buren County and Thursday, June 21, in Ottawa County. Each meeting will feature MSU Extension specialists and educators speaking about concerns during blueberry harvest. Two RUP credits will be available to those that attend the meetings. The timing and cost of the two meeting is slightly different.
June 13, Leduc’s Blueberries, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
This meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 13, at Leduc’s Blueberries west of Kalamazoo, Mich. The meeting will be in Leduc’s processing facility south of M-43 at 33818 CR 653 (29th Street), Paw Paw, Mich. (view map). The cost for this meeting will be $10 at the door. Dinner will be provided and will start at 5:30 p.m.
After dinner, there will be a review of harvest concerns in blueberries including insect and disease management, irrigation, nutrition and other topics. Two RUP credits are included.

- Mark Longstroth, MSU Extension – irrigation in blueberries

- Annemiek Schilder, MSU Department of Plant Pathology– control of blueberry fruit rot disease

June 21, Ottawa County Fillmore Complex, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The second meeting is on Thursday, June 21, at the Ottawa County Fillmore Complex, 12220 Fillmore, Suite 122, West Olive, Mich. (view map), in the Main Conference room. Dinner is not included, but there will be a $5 charge to cover handouts and light refreshments.
We will be discussing the same topics as the June 13 meeting, and it includes:
