Low Stress Animal Handling and Down Cow Management Training for Dairy Employees

Offered in both Spanish and English, this management training is designed specifically for dairy farm employees.

The way animals are handled can have different impacts that include milk production and public perception. Having a plan in place and trained employees can mark the difference between failure and a successful recovery in a down cow case. Providing training or reinforcing that training on these topics is important for any dairy operation. MSU Extension will offer a training on December 20 in Lenawee County where dairy farm employees will learn the concepts in a short classroom session followed by hands-on training. This training will be given in Spanish and English in two different sessions and will have the participation of the southern Michigan local veterinarian, Dr. Greg Crosley. This program will fill the National FARM program requirement for annual training for all farm employees in stockmanship. There is no fee associated with this training and RSVPs are appreciated and encouraged.

This training is available upon request for other counties in the state of Michigan.
