Michigan State University offers plant science courses at both ends of the Lower Peninsula

EmailThe MSU Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT) will conduct a variety of off-campus courses as part of the growing certificate program in applied plant science and viticulture at two locations in the spring semester.
For more than 100 years, the Michigan State University Institute of Agricultural Technology has been conducting practical plant, animal and technology certificate courses on the East Lansing campus.
Now the institute is expanding and offering commercial horticulture programs related to fruit, vegetable and greenhouse production, composting, grape and wine production, and ornamental plants at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor and Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.
The MSU IAT Landscape and
Lawn Management program also offers courses in Grand Rapids for students enrolled at Muskegon Community College, Grand Rapids Community College or Montcalm Community
College.
All courses are taught by MSU faculty members, Michigan State University Extension educators and university staff members. Credits earned are fully transferable to MSU bachelor’s degree programs, and off-campus coordinators are available to guide prospective students through the application process, creation of a course of study and student internships.
These off-campus offerings not only improve local access to MSU academic programs serving agriculture but also enable students to obtain associate degrees through supplemental coursework. MSU classes begin Jan. 7, 2013, so act now!
Many non-traditional students and people exploring new plant-related business ventures have taken advantage of from MSUIAT horticultural offerings, including MSU Product Center clients.
