The Michigan State University (MSU) College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) has named Tami Baumann senior director of advancement. The appointment  was announced by CANR Dean Fred Poston and University Advancement officials.

“Tami is a great team player and a proven relationship builder. She will be an asset in successfully moving the college forward in fund-raising,” Poston said.

For Baumann, a former member of the MSU Planned Giving Team, this marks a return to MSU. . During her previous time at MSU, she worked to raise millions of dollars as a member of the Planned Giving Team. In 2004, she left MSU to work at the University of Iowa Foundation

“I am very happy to be back at Michigan State and am especially excited to be working in behalf of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources,” Baumann said. “The research done in this college impacts everything from our dinner plate to the air we breathe. This creates rich experiential learning opportunities for our students and allows them to work on real-world problems inside and outside the classroom.”

While at Iowa, Baumann served as executive director of development for the Tippie College of Business. Her leadership and dedication helped prepare the University of Iowa for a $125 million capital campaign. In preparation for the campaign, she worked collaboratively with the dean, department chairs and volunteer advisory boards to ensure the campaign was a success. She also handled large fund-raising projects while serving as a regional major gift officer, staffing a four-state region in all academic areas.

Baumann spent 17 years in banking before moving into development at MSU in 2000.

At MSU, Bauman’s expertise in organizing campaigns on all levels, from fund-raising to volunteer management, will help the CANR succeed in future fund-raising and development efforts, Poston said.
